Hall of Fame Induction

On Oct. 8, the Class of 2009 was inducted into the Western Mass. Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame at ceremonies staged at the Log Cabin Banquet & Meeting House. Products Showcase

New England Promotional Marketing (NEPM) staged its annual Promotional Products Showcase on Oct. 13 at Ludlow Country Club. Representatives of dozens of area companies had the chance to see a wide array of products designed to help brand businesses, many of them appropriate as holiday-season gifts. John Brown Symposium

On Oct. 17, the 150th anniversary of the raid on Harper’s Ferry that ignited the Civil War, the Springfield Technical Community College School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences held a symposium on abolitionist John Brown, who lived for four years in Springfield. At right is David S. Reynolds, author of the best-selling biography John Brown, Abolitionist: The Man Who Killed Slavery, Sparked the Civil War, and Seeded Civil Rights, with the bust of John Brown. Above, Professor John Gately, also an antiquarian book dealer, speaks about his collection of memorabilia of John Brown and the era just before the Civil War.
